SEEKING TRADE ORGANIZERS

The Chamber of Commerce is seeking US trade show organizers interested in working in Turkmenistan. In 1997, the Chamber plans to organize an exhibition of agriculture and food processing technology. The purpose of the trade show is to provide small-and medium- size businesses with the opportunity to establish direct contacts with American producers and to develop contacts on purchasing equipment.

According to the Chamber, technical know-how and up-to-date equipment for small and medium production facilities are required. Some of the areas of food production where assistance is particularly needed include:

1. dairy processing
2. meat processing
3. cheese production
4. beer production
5. canned products production
6. fruit and vegetable processing
7. agricultural waste processing

The Chamber would also like to exhibit equipment and technology for food packaging, including technology for glass, brick, plastic, and iron production facilities. With such technology, the Chamber believes Turkmenistan could develop the entire food production process from harvesting to packaging.
