Statistics for 2007
In 2007, Turkmenistan's foreign trade volume was worth $13,4 billion, a $2,5 billion increase in comparison to 2006. Export has increased to $8,9 billion from $6,7 billion in last year. The trade surplus is amounted to $4,5 billion. The largest components of the country's export were natural gas, oil and fuel products, electricity, polypropylene, cotton fiber, and textile products. Principal items of import were machinery (78%), consumer goods (17%), and food & beverages (5%).
